Description
A delightful antique Suffragette chain from the early 20th Century made up of 9ct gold paperclip and knot links interspersed with violet amethyst, green peridot and white pearl beads in a fabulous, alternating pattern.
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Womens Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase Give Women Votes!
Its a lovely chain with a colourful assortment of gems, held by a ring clasp at the end.
