Description
A colourful antique Suffragette necklace from the early 1900s featuring five long droppers, including a central shamrock dropper, all decorated with green peridots, violet amethysts, and white pearls.
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white was often worn in support of the Womens Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase Give Women Votes!
It’s a fabulous piece of history and is fashioned entirely in 15ct gold with a tube clasp and safety chain at the top to hold it secure.
