Description
A beautiful antique Edwardian Suffragette lavaliere necklace, adorned with a fabulous Art Nouveau style pendant adorned with pink rubies, white seed pearls, a large emerald cut peridot in the centre and a pink tourmaline dropper. Theyre claw set in a 15ct gold open-work gallery, consisting of leaves and two scrolling motifs that join to form a heart.
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Womens Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase Give Women Votes!
This is a wonderful Edwardian necklace from the early 1900s, displaying a colourful gemstone pendant, suspended from a fine paperclip link chain, fashioned in two-tone white and yellow gold.
