An exquisite antique Suffragette collar from the Edwardian era consisting of a wide band made of interlaced spiralling gilt metal links leading to two large extravagant clasps.
Each clasp boasts beautiful engraved workmanship with golden leaves, green Paste stones and the crowning feature a large purple Paste which is approx. 25ct and simulates the beauty of an Amethyst.
Suffragette jewellery was worn to show ones allegiance to the womens Suffragette movement in the early 20th century and popularly consisted of Violet, Green and White stones which carried the message: Green for Give, white for Women and violet for Votes!
A unique feature of this collar is it can be detached at each clasp creating two separate pieces that can be put together to form matching bracelets. It is a grand antique piece, very well made and in superb condition for its age.
