Description
A gorgeous and rare antique Suffragette ring from the early 1900s adorned with two green peridots (approx. 0.80ct each), a violet amethyst (approx. 1.5ct) and six twinkling diamonds along an 18ct gold gallery, engraved with scrolling decoration down the sides.
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white was often worn in support of the Womens Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase Give Women Votes!
Its a wonderful antique treasure, representing a significant turning point in British history, with beautiful gemstones that look fabulous spread out across the finger.
