Description
A majestic pair of antique Georgian chandelier earrings beautifully preserved from the late 18th Century. An array of twinkling flat rose cut diamonds decorate each earring alongside twenty-three vibrant green step cut emeralds. They range from 0.10 – 0.70ct and total approx. 5ct across both.
Emerald is the birthstone of May. The Romans considered it to be the sacred stone of the goddess Venus and said to preserve love and provide hope. Its natural green colouring also makes it a stone of springtime and is associated with eternal love and faithfulness.
The galleries are ornately detailed and fitted with five droppers along the bottom with a hinge in the centre so that they swing and dance freely. Theyre modelled in solid silver and backed in 18ct gold with newer gold clip hooks at the top that have been added over time.
Its rare to find Georgian pieces of this calibre and in such superb condition. Theyre an outstanding pair and sure to leave an impression.
We recommend you insure for 4,300. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
