Description
A remarkable antique Georgian Harlequin brooch beautifully preserved from the early 19th Century. The piece boasts a glorious golden cushion cut citrine at its heart weighing approx. 14 carats and is framed by alternating red garnets and white rock crystals (approx. 0.50ct each) held in alternating silver and 18ct gold settings.
Harlequin jewellery is named after the colourful costumes of the 16th century comedy actors of the same name. The style was popular during the 19thCentury and saw wonderful pieces of jewellery abundantly decorated in coloured gemstones.
Its a striking antique, in excellent condition and boasts a flamboyant assortment of coloured gems that contrast wonderfully.
