Description
These fabulous 18ct Yellow Gold Mourning earrings are genuine Georgian, Circa 1800.
Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions that are reflected in these stunning pieces of Georgian jewellery.
The beautiful square earrings display a window of hair which has been delicately plaited.
Mourning jewellery mirrored the lives and times of the people who wore it. It was a souvenir to remember a loved one, a reminder to the living of the inevitability of death.
They are set with Cannetille workmanship with a pristine detailed design.
