Description

A luxurious antique Victorian Albert chain from the late 19th Century consisting of solid 9ct gold curb links, with faceted rollerball links in between. Each is stamped 375/ 9ct and has a warm, yellow gold bloom.

Albert chains were popularised and named after Prince Albert, Queen Victorias consort in the 19thCentury and were traditionally worn by gentlemen to secure a pocket watch to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. Today, they are also worn as stylish necklaces; a custom that was started by the wives of soldiers during the first world war who wore the chains as a keepsake in the hope theyd return home safely.

Its a good quality chain, complete with the classic double claw clasp and T-bar, stamped with the makers mark belonging to E. Whitehouse & Son of Birmingham.

We recommend you insure for 2,300. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
