Description
An exquisite antique Victorian fob pendant, inlaid with a carnelian intaglio seal at the base, engraved with a heraldic crest on the front, depicting the Jerusalem cross. The fob is skilfully crafted in 18ct gold, with ornate workmanship and feather motifs engraved around the top and base.
Fob pendants were a fashionable accessory in the 19th Century, often worn on a chain alongside a pocket watch. The seal, which was sometimes engraved with an identifiable image or monogram could also be used to stamp sealing wax on important letters or documents, making them functional as well as stylish.
This is a collectable Victorian fob pendant, dating to the mid-19th Century and has remained in excellent condition.
