Description
A sweet antique Victorian locket fashioned in 9ct gold back and front. The round shell has been chased with beautiful patterning with a heart and forget me nots depicted on the front and ivy leaves on the back.
Forget me nots were a popular motif in the Victorian era and symbolic of eternal love and remembrance. They were often paired with ivy leaves which similarly represented an unbreakable bond, as in the Victorian rhyme Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee.
The shell has developed a lovely smoothness and rosy patina with age and is complete with rims and windows within ready to hold two beloved photographs of the ones you cherish most.
