Antique Victorian Guard Chain Necklace 9ct Gold Circa 1900

Description

A fabulous antique guard chain from the late Victorian era made up of faceted 9ct gold cable links leading to a claw clasp at the bottom.

Guard chains were popular in the 19thCentury and were usually adorned with a pocket watch or lorgnette and were long enough to be tucked into a belt.

The chain measures 57 inches in total and can be worn as one long chain as it was back in the day or looped twice around theneck if preferred.
