Description
A romantic antique Victorian chain featuring three large charms consisting of a glowing lime-green chalcedony heart and two fobs. The fobs are inlaid with bloodstone intaglio seals, one of which opens to reveal a small hidden locket within, perfect for a small photograph or lock of hair.
Fobs were a popular accessory in the 18th and 19th Century and inlaid with an intaglio seal which was often engraved with a signature, sentimental message, or image so that it could be stamped into sealing wax on important documents. In this case they were likely used to stamp love letters to a sweetheart during a long period of separation.
Both fobs are beautifully detailed with ornate patterning and coiling metalwork. Theyre fashioned in 18ct gold and suspended from a long 18ct chain made up of faceted cable links.
Its a rare antique find, in excellent condition with a sweet sentiment attached.
