Description

An exquisite antique Victorian locket from the late 19th Century modelled in solid 18ct yellow gold with beautiful, romantic artistry chased across both sides. A detailed bouquet of flowers takes centre stage at the front with a shield at the back displaying the original owners initials encircled by a belt and buckle symbolising eternal love.

The locket opens to reveal rims, windows and two original photographs of a finely dressed lady and gentleman, likely a husband and wife, wearing traditional Victorian attire with what could be this very locket suspended proudly from a collar around the ladys neck. Both images have been carefully hand-painted, a tradition that began in the late Victorian era to enhance black and white photographs to make them more vivid and life-like.

It’s a one of a kind antique find and was clearly part of a much greater love story. It has been beautifully preserved over the centuries and deserves to be treasured once more.

We recommend you insure for 2,500. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
