Description

An exquisite antique mourning ring from the early Victorian era adorned with a cabochon almandine garnet in the centre framed in lustrous, natural pearls.

The ring is fashioned in 18ct gold and decorated with beautiful black enamel artistry with flowing foliate motifs running down each shoulder.

On the back of the face a secret inscription can be found which reads: Betty Nath 12. Jan, 1841 at 76. The piece was likely commissioned after her death and was clearly very dear to its original owner.

It has been beautifully preserved over the years and is complete with London hallmarks within the shank which date it to 1842.
