The lovely carved earrings have high relief carvings of foliate motifs in the centre.
The carved chase work leads to an original loop at the top.
Set with Gold Shepard hook wires.
Whitby Jet was brought to the attention of the world by Queen Victorian who used Whitby Jet as part of her mourning attire.
Jet is a type of brown coal a fossilised wood from an ancient tree similar to the monkey puzzle tree.
Today Whitby Jet is highly collectable and sought after worldwide.
The earrings are beautifully carved and very well executed.
They weigh 10.4 grams.
These earrings measure 65mm in length x 25mm, across the widest part.
Excellent condition all round.
