Description
This ingenious ring has been crafted in the Georgian Memento Mori style and features a large, oval Carnelian at the front of the locket which has faint transparency allowing a ghostly image to appear in the centre of a Silver skull and crossbones with Diamond set eyes which is hidden behind the locket.
Such macabre imagery was common in Memento Mori jewellery, which literally translates as Remember you will die. The morbid themes were not a celebration of death, rather a reminder to live your life well.
The piece has been skilfully crafted in 18ct Yellow Gold with beautiful engravings wrapped around the rings shoulders. Its a fantastic tribute to the craftsmanship of the Georgian era, and a great statement piece with a little surprise within.
