Description
A colourful mid 20th Century scarab bracelet (Circa 1950) adorned with seven semi-precious cabochons which appear to be banded agate, red carnelian, yellow tigers eye, camouflage jasper, purple chalcedony, pink rhodonite and blue turquoise. They each display their own distinct colouring and patterning and have been carved to depict the shells of scarab beetles.
Egyptian style jewellery saw a revival in the 20th Century after an abundance of archaeological discoveries, most notably the discovery of King Tutankhamuns tomb brought about a fascination and desire for Egyptian themed pieces across Europe. Scarabs were one of many popular motifs and were a symbol of renewal and rebirth in ancient Egypt.
The open bezel settings and connecting links are all 12ct gold filled and held by a secure snap-lock clasp at the end. Its a wonderfully unique statement piece displaying a magnificent assortment of natural gems, each engraved with the makers cryptic mark on the back.
