Description

A fabulous serpent slave bangle, made in Germany by Andreas Daub in the mid 20th Century. The piece depicts a two-headed snake, each crowned with a cherry-pink paste stone on top, simulating large rubies. Its built around a coiled steel band, rolled in a high-carat yellow gold to create an intricate, scaly pattern that is lovely and smooth to the touch, mimicking a snakes skin.

Egyptian-style jewellery saw a revival in the 20th Century after an abundance of archaeological discoveries, most notably the discovery of King Tutankhamuns tomb, brought about a fascination and desire for Egyptian-themed pieces across Europe. Snakes were one of many popular motifs and were a symbol of protection and royalty in ancient Egypt.

Its a wonderful, expandable design that can be worn around the wrist or the upper arm and is stamped with the makers mark on the back of the head.
